Do you know the purpose of power inverter? In this paper, according to the output waveform, load type, as well as some tips that need to be considered to obtain a correct inverter, these aspects are described in detail. You can also contact Xindun Power Factory to obtain power inverters with various functions and power range.

What is the purpose of power inverter?

An inverter (or power inverter) is a power electronics device which used to convert DC voltage into AC voltage. Although DC power is used in small electrical gadgets, most household equipment runs on AC power. Hence we need an efficient way to convert DC power into AC power.
And it just can convert one form of electrical power into other forms of electrical power. But it cannot generate electrical power. Hence the inverter is a converter, not a generator.

About the purpose of power inverter, types of Inverter can be grouped by according to the Output Waveform as well as according to the Type of Load. And Applications of Inverter include:
①When the main power is not available, an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) uses battery and inverter.
②The power inverter used in the HVDC transmission line. It also used to connect two asynchronous AC systems.
③The output of the solar panel is DC power. The solar inverter used to convert DC power into AC power.
④The inverter produces variable output voltage by using a control unit (close-loop inverter). The speed of inverter controlled by supplying variable voltage. For example, it used in the refrigerator compressor motor, rail transport, induction motor speed control, electric vehicle.
⑤It can convert the low-frequency AC power to a higher frequency which used in induction heating.

power inverter purpose

So these are some tips we need to consider before we can get the right inverters as following,
①.off-grid or grid-tied
②.single phase or three phase.
③. Whether the machine will convert DC to AC ONLY which means the inverter just work with battery only, if yes, then no need DC or AC power input.
Or if DC or AC input applied, then it can charge the battery with electricity from DC source and AC source.
MPPT controller is a device for DC to DC, and it can be integrated inside the inverter if necessary. A hybrid inverter we called when MPPT or AC charger is inbuilt.
Xindun also have the machine which will convert DC from solar panels into AC to drive loads directly, no need to connect the machine with battery.
④. A list of load appliances, and we need to sum up the peak power of each load to figure out a proper power to the inverter.
If no load power, such as motor, heating device, for example,
TV, 300V ,1pc
Fan, 60W,1pc
Printer, 50W, 1pc
LED,30W,30pcs,
What we can get (300x1+60x1+50x1+30x30)x1.25 is about 1.6KW, then we choose 1.5KW or 2KW, then powerful enough.
But if any load power, for example,A/C, Oven, washing machine, or air compressor, 800W let me say, the peak power is supposed to be 800X1.7, or 800X2, then 1600W is the one we need.
⑤.The battery voltage which is also the voltage of the system, or the voltage of the MPPT controller.
It will decide the total power of the PV array as well as the total capacity of the battery.
8KW of WD machine we take for sample, the voltage can be 48V, 96V or 192V. A bigger voltage it has, a more capable MPPT controller it can work with, more solar panels it can work with, and a bigger capacity to the battery it can be.
⑥.A list of solar panels will help us get a proper MPPT controller.
⑦.Wifi optional for remote monitoring
⑧.If no load power among the loads, HP could be a preferred choice. Or WD or DP is more flexible to handle surge current from power loads.
