This article introduces the output compensation function of the inverter. The hybrid inverter intelligently switches to mains or battery power when the sunlight is insufficient to ensure that the load is powered continuously. The role of this function in different power environments is discussed in depth.

What Is the Inverter Output Compensation Function?

The inverter uses PV output to power the load. When the weather is bad or the sunshine conditions are not ideal, the power output is compensated by the backup power of the mains or battery. This is the output compensation function.

This is also one of the important differences between Xindun Power's hybrid inverter and general pure off grid inverters. Pure off grid inverters do not have an output compensation function. Only one of the three can be selected as the output power source: PV output, mains output and battery output.

Xindun Power's hybrid inverter has the components of on grid inverter inside, and the output end is divided into two outputs: one is the AC output converted from the PV solar DC power, and the other is the output of the mains or battery. Under the control of the intelligent management system of the inverter, it can ensure that the total power of the two outputs is sufficient for the load.

Now pure on grid inverters also have this compensation output function: by installing an anti-backflow smart meter, the on grid inverter transfers the AC power that should be uploaded to the grid to the load for use. At the same time, there is a bypass output wire inside the inverter, which can directly use the mains output. For example, 1kw on grid inverter can carry a load of 10kw or even more. However, compared with Xindun Power's on grid and off grid inverters, there is a serious shortcoming: when the national grid is out of power, the above function stops immediately, because when the on grid inverter detects that the national grid is out of power, it will automatically stop running. This is also its anti-islanding protection function. Another point that is different from the hybrid grid inverter is that the on grid inverter cannot store backup power for the battery. When there is no power at night, the on grid inverter cannot provide power at all.
