Why Inverter Or MPPT Show Battery Voltage High Protection Warning?

How to prevent inverter and mppt battery voltage from being too high?

 

Why does the inverter or mppt sometimes display a battery voltage high voltage protection warning? It may be caused by the following reasons:

1. Battery voltage is too high

The battery voltage exceeds the rated range of the inverter, triggering the overvoltage protection.

2. Charge controller failure

Charge controller failure may cause the battery to overcharge and cause overvoltage. For example, if the inverter relay is damaged, this phenomenon will occur.

3. Battery aging or damage

Aging or damaged batteries may not be able to maintain voltage stably, resulting in abnormal voltage increase.

4. Temperature effect

High temperature environment may increase battery voltage and trigger overvoltage protection.

5. Inverter setting error

Improper setting of the inverter voltage protection parameters may trigger overvoltage protection by mistake.

6. External power supply interference

External power supply fluctuations or interference may cause abnormal battery voltage.

7. Battery connection problem

Loose battery connection or poor contact may cause voltage abnormality.

 

Solution:

Check battery voltage: Make sure the voltage is within the rated range of the inverter.

Check charge controller: Ask a professional electrician to check if the inverter relay is damaged.

Check battery status: Replace aged or damaged batteries if necessary.

Adjust inverter settings: Make sure the protection parameters are correct.

Check connections: Make sure the battery connection is secure.

If the problem persists, it is recommended to contact a professional for repair.

 

For mppt, we can do this:

1. Disconnect the PV connection to see if the warning still exists;

2. When charging the battery with MPPT, observe that if the battery is normal, the battery voltage will rise slowly. If the battery has a service life problem or is of poor quality, the battery voltage will fluctuate greatly during PV charging. That is, if the battery voltage fluctuates and rises, then there is a high probability that the battery has problem.

 

In addition, if you don't mind, I will also tell you this phenomenon of lithium batteries:

If the lithium battery is made of fresh lithium batteries, the voltage in saturated or unsaturated state is the same between lithium batteries, or the error will not be greater than 0.01-0,02vdc. In the saturated state, the voltage of the lithium battery is 3.2vdc, and the voltage difference of each lithium battery should not exceed 0.02vdc.

 

If the voltage difference between each lithium battery exceeds 0.01-0.02vdc, then this is a lithium battery made of second-hand lithium batteries. Whether it is solar charging mppt or mains charging inverter, this lithium battery will never be fully charged.

 

You can ask the engineer to export the BMS data and view the above parameters on the computer.
