FAQ
Split phase power supply refers to the split phase output function of inverter, which can output two voltages simultaneously, such as 110V/220V or 120V/240V. It is widely used in residential, small commercial and industrial loads to meet the solar power supply needs of regions with dual voltage standards worldwide.

How to Select the Right Split Phase Power Supply Inverter?

When designing off grid solar system for clients, we've found that their primary concern isn't whether solar can generate electricity, but rather whether the inverter can truly adapt to the local power grid and load demands. Many regions have dual voltage standards, such as Mexico, Panama, Jamaica, Brazil, Peru, the Philippines, Ecuador, and Venezuela. However, many inverter on the market currently only support one output voltage standard, failing to meet the electricity needs of dual voltage output regions. Therefore, the demand for split phase power supply inverter is constantly rising. These inverter can convert DC to AC while simulating the local grid's dual voltage structure, providing two different voltage output, perfectly compatible with various household appliances and industrial equipment, making them the preferred choice for implementing solar projects.

What is split phase power supply?

The split phase power supply splits the single AC phase generated by inverter into two sub-phases (L1 and L2) with a 180° phase difference, using a split phase transformer or electronic split phase circuit. Taking a common 110V/220V split phase output as an example, the inverter first generates 110V AC, then uses the split phase structure to generate a 110V AC with the opposite phase. When the two ends of one sub-phase are taken, the output voltage is 110V; when the two sub-phases are taken, due to their opposite phases, the voltages are superimposed, resulting in an output of 220V. 110V is typically sufficient for lighting, televisions, refrigerators, communication equipment, and office equipment, while 220V is sufficient for high power equipment such as air conditioners, deep well pumps, water heaters, and washer dryers.

Split phase technology eliminates the need for two separate transformers, achieving dual voltage output through a single circuit. This simplifies the internal structure of the inverter, reduces the size and weight of the equipment, and improves inverter conversion efficiency. Xindun split phase inverter employ advanced technology to adjust the voltage stability of both sub-phases in real time. This ensures that both voltage outputs remain stable during load fluctuations, such as the initial startup of high power equipment, preventing equipment failure due to voltage fluctuations.
